Recreation: Folsom Trails

Oak Parkway Trail

Folsom's recreational trail system provides nearly 34 miles of paved bike and pedestrian paths for cyclists, walkers and joggers. Trail access points are located throughout the city's neighborhoods and in close proximity to nearly all business and retail centers. Many of the bike trails crisscross amidst Folsom's dedicated open space corridors, greenbelts, creeks, and wetland areas. A few of the more popular trails in Folsom include the American River Trail, Oak Parkway Trail, and the Humbug-Willow Creek Trail system.

For the more adventurous type, the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area has a wide range of biking, hiking and equestrian trails. The Avery's Pond Trail at Rattlesnake Bar, Doton's Cove Trail at Granite Bay Recreation Area, and The Oaks Nature Trail at Peninsula Campground are ideal trails for the novice hiker, while the Pioneer Express Trail and Rattlesnake-Horseshoe Bar Trails are a bit more challenging and better suited for horseback riding and the more experienced hiker. And though mountain bikes are prohibited on many of the marked trails, the Granite Bay Recreation Area does offer ample space and off road bike trails to enjoy.
