Folsom Parks: Folsom City Lions Park
Folsom City Lions Park
Located on Stafford Street near Rodeo Arena, the Folsom City Lions Park is home to the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary. For nearly fifty years, this small unique zoo has been providing sanctuary to injured, orphaned and non-releasable animals. The zoo is home to several animals including bears, tigers, cougars, coyotes, wolves, foxes, monkeys, donkeys, pigs, raptors, parrots, peacocks, and rosters. Where animal education and community outreach are principal, the zoo offers classes, zoo camps, guided tours, and special programs.
In the center of Folsom City Lions Park is a circular shaped day-use picnic area. A small paved footpath winds through the park and picnic tables and barbeques are spread throughout the picnic area. Mature trees provide ample shade from the hot afternoon sun, as does a large picnic pavilion that covers a group picnic area. The park has two play structures for kids, and several horseshoe pits are located at the north end of the park. Occasionally, sounds from the zoo sanctuary echo across the park.
