Folsom Lake: Granite Bay Recreation Area
Granite Bay Recreation Area
The Granite Bay recreation area offers plenty of outdoor fun for everyone. A large group picnic area overlooks the beach (Granite Beach) and swimming area. Numerous picnic tables and barbeques are spread throughout the area, most of which are covered by oak trees that provide shade during hot summer months. Additional picnic tables and barbeques are located near the concession stand, which is adjacent to Granite Beach. The concession stand sells food, drinks, and other items (no fishing gear), and paddle boats, kayaks, and other flotation devices are available for rent.
Granite Bay has the largest boat launch facility on the lake. Two spacious multi-lane boat ramps allow for easy lake access, and a single-lane, minimal grade launch is available for small boats and jet skis.
Hiking, biking and equestrian trails are spread throughout the recreation area. The Doton's Cove Trail, which is a .5 mile hiking trail, meanders between Doton's Point and Beek's Bight, and a horse staging area is ideally situated at the Granite Bay assembly area of the Pioneer Express Trail. Depending on the lake level, other small beaches and lake access points are located at Oaks Beach, Doton's Point, and Beek's Bight.
The Granite Bay recreation area is open year-round; summer hours are 6am to 9pm. The day-use fee is $12 per vehicle and the boat launch fee is $10 per day for powered boats and watercraft.
